Jackson State’s Hope Briggs wins second consecutive Volleyball Newcomer of the Week

 For the second week in a row Jackson State’s Hope Briggs has been tabbed Southwestern Athletic Conference Newcomer of the Week for outstanding performance over the weekend at the McNeese Invitational.
 
Hope Briggs continues to shine in her freshman season as she posted 13 kills and five blocks in JSU’s 3-2 win over Southeast Missouri Friday morning. Despite the Tigers falling to Sam Houston in their second game of the invitational Briggs registered 15 kills and three blocks in the match. Briggs closed out the tournament with eight kills and four blocks as Jackson State defeated McNeese State Saturday.
 
Jackson State will return to action Friday in Memphis, Tennessee at the TSU/Belmont Tournament. JSU will face UC-San Diego Friday at noon and Tennessee State at 6 p.m. The Tigers will close out against Belmont Saturday at 10 a.m.
